A multi-sensory immersive performance
Alyson Sillon explores contemporary techno culture, foregrounding its Black and queer origins through historical research, embodied practice, and ritual inquiry. Before/After transforms the museum into a rave-temple structured around twelve transitional moments, guiding visitors through a cycle of personal and collective transformation.
At its core, The Ceremony is a performative initiation: meditation and intention-setting lead to the creation of an alter ego as a vehicle for liberated self-expression. Through scent, breath, yoga-based grounding, and choreographic activation, the experience culminates in a club-inspired dance ritual. Techno emerges as a space of communal alignment, embodied memory, and cultural resistance.
