Forget It

Nina Gierasimczuk (DOGtime - Expanded Painting)

Trauma and memory.

Through colour the victimisation of a young woman in blue is given a new narrative – painful memories get recoloured. Pastel creates multitude of distances: between the viewer and the maker, between the figures in the scenes, between past and present, between aesthetic fun and moral complaint. The perception of colour values and hues developed at different stages of the evolution of the eye. Hue perception is advanced, so is disentangling the colour and the figurative. This invites reassignment, displacement, and confusion of different types of values: aesthetic and moral.
