How to prepare for something that will happen for sure, but you don’t know when? The waiting. One second, one more, it’s almost there. Hit, run or freeze. Did I bring everything that I need? Did I bring enough, or too much? I find myself in the hypnosis of time. The loop of carrying my life. Packing and unpacking my emergency luggage becomes a meditation. Twenty-four hours of madness before I may have to leave home to find a new one. Will the loop be broken, or will it endlessly continue?
Kateryna Lymar is from the Donbas region (Luhansk, Ukraine). Luhansk has been under occupation since 2014. Kateryna came to Amsterdam from Kyiv in March 2022.
