Only to compound and form once again

Wax, unfired clay, steel, ceramic light

Only to compound and form once again speaks of the interconnectedness between bodies and territories. The dynamic sculpture consists of two intertwined elements: a cast of a geological zone located at de Afsluitdijk, marked by years of transformation, and a representation of the human form. The two are slowly merging together. This merging invites a deeper exploration of the concept of transformation and its connection to refuge, while challenging traditional ideas of stability and permanence.

The sculpture is a co-production of imagination between the artist and the materials, using the theme of transformation as the interface. It lies in an ambiguous continuity between the materials and the artistic process, occupying a space where the audience is invited to consider the fluidity of both land and body.
