The Island of Soot is a digitally created space in which physical bodies and objects morph by being transferred from reality to virtuality. The sculptures, bodies and objects are subjected to impartial and fractal 3D scanning, resizing, downsizing and blurring which results in a small floating landscape in cyberspace filled with anthropomorphic sculptures. The title refers to residue that results from burning organic matter. This digital residue from physical material takes on new life in cyberspace.
