Mixed-media installation
In an age when life and technology merge seamlessly, the line between biological organisms and new life forms is becoming blurred. The digital environment intertwines with the physical, creating alternative dimensions for being and thinking and paving the way for new perspectives on life, self and relationships with others. Data has become a valuable and essential asset in the digital age, much as natural resources were critical in earlier stages of human development.
DATA-FED LIFEFORMS is visual research presented in a mixed media installation. The translation of a branch from its natural habitat, subjected to the process of 3D scanning, enlarging and 3D printing, acts as a catalyst for the work. The merging of these traditionally separate realms challenges our understanding of the boundaries that define where life begins and ends.
